2007 High Power Prone Match

Match Summary: This match is roughly modeled after the 300 meter prone match shot in international competition.  It is all prone and consists of three twenty shot stages (60 total record shots) shot at 200 yards.  Participants compete within the classification of the rifle they use.

Classes of Rifles:

1 - Any rifle/any sight - Any rifle with either open sights or a scope and a front support, e.g., bi-pods, sand bags, bench rests.  No rear support allowed, e.g., no rear bench rest bags. 

2- Any rifle/iron sight - Any rifle with open sights, e.g. match bolt rifles, space guns (sometimes known as Palma rifles.)  No front or rear support.  Only use of a sling.)

3- Service rifle - (M1, M1A, AR, no scopes.  No front or rear support.  Only use of a sling.)

4- F-class - any caliber rifle with a scope and a front support, e.g. bi-pods, bench rests, sand bags, etc.  Rear support not allowed, i.e., no rear bench rest bags.

5 - Curio and Relic - (Any rifle in use prior to Korea with issue sights, i.e., no match sights or scopes. Curio and Relic rifles may use sand bag front support only.  No rear support.

Course of fire:

Stage 1: Unlimited sighters and twenty record shots prone, single round load in 25 minutes.

Stage 2: Two sighters and twenty record shots prone, single round load in 22 minutes.

Stage 3: Two sighers and twenty record shots prone, single round load in 22 minutes.

Match: Aggregate of stages one through three.

Match Schedule:

 

First Saturday of the Month, March through December…March 3rd; April 7th; May 5th; June 2nd; July 7th; Aug 4th; Sept 1st; Oct 6th; Nov 3rd; Dec 1st. 

Note:  June 2nd match will be the Third Annual John C. Garand Match for M-1’s only with three stages; slow prone, standing to prone, rapid and standing, slow.

 

Entry fee is $15.00 for Custer members and $20.00 for non-members and $10.00 for Juniors (under 18 years of age.)  Sign in begins at 0900.  Firing commences at 0930.

Junior High Power Program.  


WANTED:  Teenagers, boys and girls, to participate in our Summer 2003 Junior High power  program.

Learn and practice safe gun handling and principles of marksmanship using the AR-15 .223 caliber rifle.  Have fun while you learn.  Become a proficient and safe marksperson.

Your club provides the rifles, the gear and expert instruction.  Small fee of $2.00 per student per session required to cover ammunition.

Program will be conducted on Wednesday afternoons, July and August 2003.Initial class and orientation scheduled for July 9, 2003.
